William, Esther, Henry, Gideon, Mary, Rhoda came from NC to White CountyTN by 1810. Wm. and Henry received grants of land in Tenn. Henry built abrick home near Sparta as did Gideon. These homes still stand in goodrepair (1999) today. William built a log home near the Duck Pond.Willim's home was being lived in until it burned a few years ago. Theearlist marriage record located for White County is for William's sister,Rhoda, who married John Puckett Dec. 4, 1809. The earliest record ofGideon in White County that I have in my records is a deed between Henryand Gideon dated Jun. 18, 1822.

There is an undocumented story that one of the Lydas was a BritishLoyalist during the Revolutionary War and that his last wish was to beburied in his British Uniform. According to the story, he was buried inthat uniform. Another undocumented story was that Andrew Lyda was aGerman Hessian soldier who liked America so well he decided to remainhere after the close of the war. Some Lydas fought for the American causeso these stories may not be true.
