  • Notes
    • from Charles D. (Chaz) Andrews:
Before she died, I talked with my mother about Mame Keenan & about my grandmother's (Sarah Elizabeth Quay) middle name. My grandmother's middle name was given to her in honor of the woman who raised Mame. So it's definately Alexander & Elizabeth who raised Mame. I also have further proof of this since Alexander & Elizabeth are buried right next to Mame's grandmother in Phoenixville. Mame was left with her uncle because her father (George A. Keenan) moved to California to be a horse trainer after her mother (Annie Graham--I can't find her at all, this is from my mother's memory) died in childbirth. George later remarried and had children who later visited Mame when my mother was a child. I found George in Phoenixville, listed with his mother Margaret, who came over as a widow from Ireland through New York with some grown children. I found him in later censuses in California with his ever growing family out there. Margaret Keenan (Mame's grandmother) is buried in Morris Cemetery right next to Alexander and Elizabeth Keenan.
